📖 3 Everyday Sentences Breakdown
1. “I read a sentence”
Tamil Script: நான் ஒரு வாக்கியத்தைப் படிக்கின்றேன்
Phonetic Pronunciation: Naan oru vaakkiyathai padikkindren
Grammar Insight: Naan = I | oru = a/one | vaakkiyathai = sentence (object form) | padikkindren = am reading/read (present tense, first person).
2. “I read a letter”
Tamil Script: நான் ஒரு கடிதத்தைப் படிக்கின்றேன்
Phonetic Pronunciation: Naan oru kadithathai padikkindren
Grammar Insight: kadithathai comes from kaditham (letter), modified into the object case.
3. “I read a book”
Tamil Script: நான் ஒரு புத்தகத்தைப் படிக்கின்றேன்
Phonetic Pronunciation: Naan oru puthagathai padikkindren
Grammar Insight: puthagathai comes from puthagam (book), modified into the object case.
💡 Pronunciation & Practice Tip
Notice how the action verb ending “-padikkindren” remains consistent across all three sentences because the subject (Naan / I) remains the same in the present tense. Master this pattern, and you can easily swap out the object to say what else you are reading!
